LYRIQUE Bb & A CLARINETS
SPECIAL FEATURES
Feature: In line, separate post mounted side Trill Keys:
Explanation:
In line or "jump" trill keys are "in line" because the key cups and key arm are "in line" with the tone hole the pad covers. This is superior to the more common "off set" trill keys because the pads drop straight on to the tone hole rather than striking the tone hole at an angle. This makes the action more positive as well as creating less ware and tear on the pad itself.
The trill keys are called "jump" because they jump over one another as can be seen from the photo graph. This is the necessary design if the keys are to be in line.
The keys are referred to as "separate post mounted" because each trill key is mounted on its own post. While this makes for the best key action, the most common configuration is to mount the four keys on three posts: a concept that creates less positive key action as well as creates both more mechanical and padding problems.
Feature: Double Reinforced crow's foot
explanation: The double reinforced crow's foot helps insure the F/c-E/b coupling will stay in adjustment rather than be constantly in the repair shop because of weak, poorly designed key work.
Feature: Ergonomically correct thumb key: explanation: The exclusive thumb key enables the player to place the thumb in the natural 1:30–2:00 Oclock position, rather than 12:00 Oclock. The more natural thumb angle not only makes it easier to play the register key, it also improves the comfort and position of the remaining left hand fingers.

Feature: Adjustable Thumb rest
Each Lyrique clarinet comes with an adjustable thumb rest.

Feature: Excellent case hardware
Lyrique soprano clarinets come in an elegant, durable hard shell case with extra durable, lockable latches and plenty of room for accessories and supplies

Feature: Professionals agree: an excellent mouthpiece and barrel are just as critical to good performance as an excellent clarinet. Therefore, each Lyrique soprano Bb clarinet comes with two precision hand reamed and hand finished barrels. The barrels have a special design that darkens the sound, produces fuller high tones and helps maintain consistency of tone color at higher dynamic levels. Included also is a hand finished Ridenour Clarinet Mouthpiece.

Of course, the real value of the Lyrique clarinet is something the eye cannot see and can only be experienced, and that is the acoustical design of the Lyrique. The advanced professional acoustics combined with the detailed finishing of each clarinet by its designer, Tom Ridenour results in arguably the best sounding, playing and tuning clarinet available at perhaps any price. No instruments on the market priced so modestly gives the player so much in so many ways and no other instrument is supported by such knowledge, expertise and personalized services. Professionals who know how to distinguish substance from image know that paying more does not assure one of getting more. One can pay more...lots more...and end up getting less...a lot less.
But those who care about value as well as quality will search far and wide to do as well as Ridenour Lyrique clarinets.
