The preparation of clarinets at RCP is all done by world famous clarinet designer, Tom Ridenour.
All orders are prepared invididually.
Tom has no assistants. He personally tests each clarinet thoroughly, hand tunes it and adjusts it in fine detail to insure you get not only an outstanding clarinet, but one that meets the strictest definition of the model he has himself designed. Our clarinets are perhaps given more detailed, personalized hand finishing than top professional clarinets costing thousands of dollars more.
Why is this preparation necessary? It is necessary because we recognize that, because of the common variability of factory processes, no factory can produce clarinets that meet the highest definition of the models they make with absolute consistency. Varibility in clarinets has long been known about and even the most expensive of top professional level clarinets often require considerable investment in custom work to correct playing and tuning faults which go unrecognized at the factory. Therefore, our intent at RCP is to provide that attention the factories cannot and eliminate the vagaries that invariably occur in mere factory production.
Besides the personalized, individualized preparation your order receives, RCP also offers after-point-of-purchase acoustical customizing.
Why should such customizing be necessary?
Most often on Ridenour clarinets it is not. The vast majority of our customers love their clarinets as we prepare them. We, however, offer the addition customizing for the following reason: We do so because we recognize that clarinetists often have very different ways of playing and voicing the sound and play in very different performance venues. We are prepared to meet those specialized needs in the clarinets we sell, at no extra charge! This means the artist acoustical customizing that would normally cost several hundred dollars is provided free, as needed, with every clarinet we sell.
